FESTIVAL'S 20TH ANNIVERSARY DECLARED A SUCCESS

Organisers have declared the event a huge success. “We were blessed with blue skies and sunshine, ensuring that all 10,000 ticketholders had a fantastic day out,” says Rachael Fletcher, Toast Martinborough's General Manager.

Eleven vineyards hosted the event, offering festival-goers a once-a-year opportunity to taste the award-winning wines for which Martinborough is famous, savour superb food from top restaurants in Wellington and Wairarapa, and enjoy live music from some of New Zealand's most well known performers.

For Phil McGregor of Wellington, the day brought excitement and exhilaration. He discovered a ‘Golden Ticket' hidden in his festival francs, winning him a $1,000 package that included a helicopter flight over the festival and a personal ‘Toast butler' catering to his every whim on the day.

“In 20 years, Toast Martinborough has become a must-do outing for visitors from around New Zealand and all over the world,” says Fletcher. “The original 5,000 tickets have grown to 10,000 and tickets now sell in minutes rather than hours.

“This is a huge endorsement of the passion and commitment that go into every festival, which year after year delivers a unique world-class experience.”

CONGRATULATIONS MICHELLE POTTER - OUR ULTIMATE FAN!

Oct 2011

Entries came from far and wide - and boy are there some incredible Toast Martinborough Fans out there. But, there can only be one winner. So, congratulations to Michelle Potter of Wellington, the Ultimate Toast Martinborough Fan.  The competition was fierce, and there were many fantastic entries, making it a very difficult task for our judges! However, there could only be one winner.

Michelle has attended all but 2 of the 19 festivals so far, due to overseas commitments. Her now husband proposed to her at the 18th festival, between 2 rows of vines. She was pregnant for the 19th festival, and this year baby will be in tow to celebrate the 20th! Michelle wins 4 tickets to the 2011 festival, 3 nights accommodation in Martinborough, and a case of delicious Martinborough wine to enjoy. Congratulations - and thanks to the many people that entered. It's been wonderful hearing all the wierd and wonderful stories of dedication to the cause!

2011 POSTER IS THE BEST YET!

We'd like to extend a huge thanks to all the friends of Toast who voted for their favourite Toast poster over the past few weeks. The poster gallery was a resounding success gauging by the number of visitors. We're glad you enjoyed the collection as much as we enjoyed putting it together. The votes have been tallied and it turns out that the most loved poster we've produced is in fact this year's! Yes, the 2011 poster received the most votes and that's marvelous to hear because we endeavour to make it more fantastic each year.

So, the medal table is as follows:

1st - 2011 poster
2nd - 2008 poster
3rd - 2007 poster

Click here to see the previous years' posters.

Now, some of you were perhaps motivated to vote by the lure of winning two tickets to this year's sold out festival - fair enough. So without further ado, we'd like to congratulate... Matthew Pettengell! We hope you and a friend have a fantastic time November 20th, helping us celebrate 20 years of Toast! Plus, you receive a framed copy of your favourite poster to hang proudly in your home.
Cheers all. Hope to see you enjoying the spoils of the fabulous Martinborough region soon.

New Faces Launch Toast Martinborough today

Two new faces, appropriately found through Facebook, are launching Toast Martinborough 2010 today.

New Zealand's premier wine food and music festival, Toast Martinborough innovatively used a social media search to find a guy and a girl to be its 2010 faces on posters, ads, the festival booklet, web and social media sites.

“We were delighted with the response as Facebook fans got into the spirit. We whittled photos down to a final four, and asked for comments from fans before choosing Wynne Pirini and Jenn Shelton,” said Kaylene Moore, Toast Martinborough General Manager.

Wynne is a local Wellington lad who loves to spend his weekends surfing in the Wairarapa. "Toast Martinborough is an event that I try never to miss - one year I came all the way back from Canada just to attend!” When he's not drinking good Kiwi wines, he increases internet sales for local businesses.

Jenn Shelton is a Wellington-born singer and songwriter, who was the Rugby Sevens Star in 2008 and sang for the crowd.  Multi-talented, she has also worked in local theatre.

Toast Martinborough will be held on Sunday 21 November 2010. Tickets go on sale at 9am Wednesday 6 October 2010, only at 0800 TICKETEK or www.ticketek.co.nz.

As 2009 tickets sold out in just 13 minutes, similar interest is expected this year.

    4 May 2010

    The "Faces" have been found!

The “Find the face of Toast Martinborough” Facebook campaign has been a huge success, says Kaylene Moore General Manager for Toast Martinborough.

Over 60 fans loaded pictures on the “toastmart” Facebook fan page to be in the running to win precious Toast Martinborough tickets and wines from the Martinborough region.  The main drawcard was the chance to be the face on the front of the 2010 posters, the 10,000+ programmes used on the day, and media advertising relating to Toast Martinborough 2010.

“We easily picked our winners from all the beautiful faces posted, says Kaylene when questioned about the winners.  We want to keep the winners a surprise until the launch so we posted the four finalist men and woman on our Facebook page and have asked our fans to comment on their personal favourite.   There are more great surprises in store for those that do!

Toast Martinborough is New Zealand's premier wine, food and music festival. Tickets sold out in 13 minutes in 2009, and organisers are expecting similar interest for the 2010 event.

There will be more opportunities to win tickets, share information and get involved with the 2010 festival through the Toast Martinborough fan page on Facebook, and through Twitter over the next few months and leading up to the big day.
